Commissioner’s Block

In 1913, eager to expand the flourishing family wine business, the company founder spotted an ideal place for the wine cellars - next to the Melbourne to Mildura railway line.

Foiled by the local railway engineer in his attempts to lease the land, the founder went straight to the Chairman of Railway Commissioners in Melbourne. As his diary relates, "After quite a friendly all-round talk…he told the Engineer to let me have it".

Commissioner's Block wines, named in tribute to the Commissioner, reflect the character of the Murray-Darling region and the passion of the grape grower and the winemaker.
